Usual Symptoms

Hyalase – Usual Symptoms

After receiving a Hyalase injection, it’s important to be aware of the usual symptoms that may occur as part of the normal healing process. Here are some common symptoms you may experience:

  • Swelling: Swelling around the injection site is a common side effect and can occur immediately after the injection. It typically subsides within a few hours but may persist for up to a few days in some cases.
  • Redness and bruising: You may notice mild redness or bruising at the injection site. This is a normal response and should gradually fade over time. Applying ice packs or cold compresses can help minimise these symptoms.
  • Sensitivity or tenderness: For a few days following the procedure, the injected area may feel sensitive or tender to the touch. This discomfort is usually very mild and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers if necessary.
  • Itching or mild irritation: Some individuals may experience mild itching or irritation at the injection site. This is typically temporary and should resolve on its own.

It’s important to note that these symptoms are considered normal and should gradually improve over time. However, if you experience severe or prolonged symptoms, or if you notice any signs of allergic reaction or significant swelling it is important to contact your injector for further evaluation and guidance. If you experience any swelling of your tongue or any difficulty breathing call 000 immediately.

  • Avoid touching or applying significant pressure to the treated area for 2 weeks after the procedure. This includes avoiding excessive rubbing, massaging, or pressing on the area.
  • Minimise strenuous exercise or activities that increase blood flow to the face for the first 24 to 48 hours after the procedure. This can help reduce swelling and bruising.

  • Swelling: Swelling is a common side effect of filler injections and usually occurs immediately or within the first few hours after the procedure. Depending on the individual and the specific filler used, it can last for a few days to a week.
  • Bruising: Bruising at the injection site is also common and may appear as small, localised areas of discolouration. The bruising can vary in severity and typically resolves within a week or two.
  • Redness: Some redness or mild inflammation may occur at the injection site, which is usually temporary and subsides within a few hours to a couple of days.
  • Tenderness or sensitivity: The treated area may feel tender or sensitive to touch for a few days after the injection. This tenderness is usually mild and should improve over time.
  • Itching: Itching or a mild sensation of tightness may be experienced in the treated area. This is generally temporary and should resolve on its own.
  • Lumpiness or unevenness: Initially, the filler may create a sensation of lumpiness or unevenness in the treated area. This is usually temporary and should smooth out as the filler settles.
  • Discolouration: In rare cases, the injected area may appear slightly bluish or discoloured. This is usually due to superficial bruising and should resolve as the bruise heals.
  • Rare complications: Although uncommon, there is a risk of more serious complications such as infection, allergic reactions, or vascular occlusion (blockage of a blood vessel). PCDC (Deoxycholate 30mg/ml and Phosphatyldicholine 50mg/ml)

  • Avoid strenuous activities: For at least 48 hours, refrain from vigorous exercise, heavy lifting, or any activity that may increase blood flow to the treated area. This helps minimise swelling and allows the injection to settle properly.
  • Apply cold compresses: Applying cold compresses or ice packs to the treated area can help reduce swelling, inflammation, and discomfort. Wrap the ice pack in a thin cloth and apply it for 10-15 minutes at a time, several times a day, as needed.
  • Take pain medication if necessary: Over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen (Panadol) or ibuprofen (Nurofen) can help alleviate any post-treatment discomfort.
  • Avoid excessive heat exposure: Avoid hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and prolonged sun exposure to the treated area for at least one week. Heat can increase swelling and cause complications during the healing process.
  • Wear loose and comfortable clothing: Opt for loose-fitting clothing that does not constrict or rub against the treated area. This helps reduce irritation and allows the injection site to heal.
  • Stay hydrated: Drinking an adequate amount of water helps with the healing process and overall well-being.
  • Attend follow-up appointments: It is important to attend any scheduled follow-up appointments with your injector. She/he can assess your progress, address any concerns or questions you may have, and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.

Post-Treatment Care
After your skin needling session, it’s common to experience some redness and mild swelling in the treated areas. Your skin may also feel warm to the touch, similar to a light sunburn. This sensation should subside within 24-48 hours. Within three to five days, your skin might become slightly dry or flaky. This is part of the normal healing process, as dead skin cells are pushed to the surface. Avoid picking at your skin during this time, and apply a gentle moisturiser 2-3 times daily. Once this phase passes, your skin will feel smoother and appear more radiant, as if you’ve had a deep exfoliation.

Collagen Production & Results
Skin needling promotes your body’s natural collagen and elastin production, which can continue for up to 12 weeks post-treatment. Results vary from person to person—some individuals may notice a difference within a few weeks, while others may require multiple sessions. However, your skin will continue to improve in the months following your treatment, with the effects lasting until the natural ageing process resumes.

Common Symptoms
Immediately after the treatment, you may notice redness, puffiness, and a slight tenderness, similar to a sunburn. Your skin may feel tighter, and flaking may occur over the next few days. Be sure not to pick at any peeling skin, as it should shed naturally.

Skincare Product Recommendations
Your skin will be sensitive following the procedure, so it’s essential to avoid using any products with active ingredients, such as retinol, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), or vitamin C. You can reintroduce these products 7 days after your treatment

Avoid Makeup for 24-48 Hours
It’s crucial to let your skin heal without makeup for at least 24 to 48 hours post-treatment. Makeup brushes can irritate the treated areas, and any bacteria on the brushes may lead to infection or delayed healing.

Avoid Heat and Sweating
Skin needling naturally increases heat in your skin. Engaging in activities that cause sweating or heat exposure may increase the risk of unwanted side effects such as infection or extended redness. It’s best to avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, or any activity that generates excess heat for a few days.

Avoid Anti-Inflammatory Medications
Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen before and after your procedure. These can disrupt the natural inflammatory process, which is necessary for optimal skin repair and rejuvenation.

Use Gentle Cleansing Products
While your skin is healing, opt for a mild cleanser and a barrier cream to keep the skin clean and moisturised.

Hydrate Well
We recommend staying hydrated both before and after your treatment. Drinking plenty of water aids in the body’s healing process and supports skin rejuvenation.

Sunscreen Use
Avoid sun exposure on the day of treatment, as you will not be wearing sunscreen. You may return to sunscreen use 24 hours following the procedure. Continue to minimise sun exposure for 72 hours post procedure.

Post-Treatment Care for Lhala Peel Chemical Peeling
  1. Gentle CleansingAvoid rubbing your face when washing. Use a mild, non-irritating cleanser.
  2. Managing PeelingThis treatment typically does not cause peeling. However, if peeling occurs, do not rub or pick at the skin.
  3. Avoid Alcohol-Based ProductsFor at least two days post-treatment, refrain from using skincare products containing alcohol, such as toners or shaving creams.
  4. Limit Strong Active IngredientsDo not use products with potent vitamin-based ingredients (e.g., high-strength Vitamin C or retinol) immediately after treatment.
  5. Hydration and Nourishment Keep the skin well-hydrated by applying a suitable moisturizing product.
  6. Sun Protection Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen daily to protect your skin from UV damage.
  7. Monitor for Reactions If you experience severe redness, irritation, or itching, consult your skincare professional.
